It is impossible for God to lie. Therefore, we who have fled to him for refuge can have great confidence as we hold to the hope that lies before us. This hope is a strong and trustworthy anchor for our souls. It leads us through the curtain into God’s inner sanctuary. Jesus has already gone in there for us. He has become our eternal High Priest. Hebrews 6:18-20
Have you ever needed an anchor?
Something to hold you securely in place, to
keep you from drifting into despair?
If you have Christ, you already have an anchor.
Because of this anchor, because of this
hope, you are qualified to enter God’s inner sanctuary.
You are qualified to bring your requests
before Him—and to know with great confidence that He hears you.
This confidence in hope is the same confidence
displayed by martyred missionaries John and Betty Stam, who were brutally murdered
by Communist soldiers in China in 1934.
Their only crime? Following Christ and sharing their faith with
the Chinese people.
As 28-year-old John and his young wife,
Betty, were being led down a road to be executed by the soldiers, a Chinese man who
recognized them asked, “Where are you going?”
“We don’t know where they’re going,” John replied, “but we are going to heaven.”
You may not be a missionary or a future
martyr, but know this: If you are a child of God, you possess the same hope as John and Betty Stam.
Live in this hope. Revel in this hope. Cling
to this hope.
This hope is yours!
